CELPIP - stands for the Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program. It’s a computer‐delivered English language test designed to assess the proficiency of non-native speakers in everyday communication. The test measures four language skills—listening, reading, writing, and speaking—in realistic, everyday situations such as conversing with colleagues, understanding news broadcasts, or writing emails.

CELPIP-General: Assesses all four language skills and is primarily used by individuals applying for Canadian permanent residency, certain professional designations, and admission to various colleges or vocational programs.

CELPIP-General LS: Focuses only on listening and speaking and is typically required for Canadian citizenship applications.

The test is developed and administered by Paragon Testing Enterprises, a subsidiary of the University of British Columbia, and is one of the official English language tests designated by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
